About the Author
Becoming a new mom raising vegan children inspired Brittney to write a children’s book that sheds light on animal rights issues.
She wrote this book in the hopes of educating young readers that the connection between mother and child, goes beyond the human experience. The love of a mother transcends species and is a profound force felt by all sentient beings. This deep, instinctual bond embodies nurturing, protection, and unconditional love. This relationship reminds us of our shared experiences and the intrinsic value of love across all forms of existence. Brittney hopes through her heart felt book, the reader can make a better connection of how our choices impact other sentient beings. Brittney Goudreau lives in the heart of the cattle industry in Alberta, Canada, and she has been advocating for animal rights for the past six years. I Wish is her first children’s book in a series spotlighting farm animals. |
About the book
I wish we had more time together, or that time would slow.
I wish I could keep you here with me, or that we could run and hide.
I wish I could keep you here with me, or that we could run and hide.
A mother cow has only one wish: She wants to be with her calf.
On a dairy farm, a mother cow expresses her love and heartbreak, as she prepares for her calf to be taken by humans. The bond between mother and calf is strong, but they are trapped in the endless cycle of the dairy and veal industries. She only hopes that someone who cares will help them. Told through captivating rhymes, I Wish explores animal rights in a digestible way for children, and opens their hearts and minds to this question: What steps can you take to positively change the lives of animals? |

I purchased this book to help teach my son about animal advocacy and allow him to have the information he needs to make his own decisions in the future. This book is narrated from a mother cows' perspective, and it is both sweet and touching to read as the story unfolds. I especially appreciate the questions the author poses at the end of the story and helps prompt some good discussions between my son and I on ways we can make our own impact. Looking forward to future books from this author. - Amy S
This book was so lovely. A great way for kids to understand the harsh realities of the farming industry without making it scary. It was a great conversation starter with my kiddos. Can’t wait for the next book!!! - Colin
